Dramatic reduction to housing numbers for HK!

Mid Sussex District Council have just made public a document which sets out the approximate number of new dwellings they expect for our parish for the period up to 2031.

The “Objectively Assessed Need” figure quoted previously was 126, but this took no account of the fact that the whole of our parish is within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which is protected under National Planning Policy.

The amended figure that reflects this policy is now 64 dwellings (30 of these are required for the period up to 2022).

These figures have yet to be agreed by the Government Inspector, who is examining the District Plan, and they may be reduced further following a Habitat Regulations Assessment on the combined impact of future development around the Ashdown Forest.
